South African Classic Buttermilk Rusks

With the holiday season upon us, there’s no better time to get baking. Our traditional South African buttermilk rusks with a healthy twist are the perfect place to start.

- 1kg Self-raising flour
- 5ml salt
- 5ml baking powder
- 500g All-Bran flakes crushed
- 3 eggs
- 1 tbsp honey or more if you prefer a sweeter taste
- 500ml buttermilk
- 1 cup of cranberries, raisins, nuts or gogi berries optional
Transfer the slices to a baking tray. Place in the oven to dry out at a very low setting (100°C) for 6-8 hours, preferably overnight!
