The newly elected ANC leaders in KwaZulu-Natal have paid former president Jacob Zuma a visit at his Nkandla home to seek guidance and wisdom.
Zuma is currently serving the remainder of his 15-month prison sentence at home after he was released on medical parole in September 2021.
The party’s newly elected leadership known as RET-Taliban headed by the provincial chairperson Sibonelo Duma said they have come to seek guidance and wisdom on certain issues.
Speaking outside Zuma’s home in Nkandla, Duma confirmed the statement, which was issued by the party, saying the newly elected members hoped to gain insight and wisdom from the former party leader and former head of state.
“We’ve spoken amongst other things- the issue of building the nation. We spoke about things on how to make sure that you transfer back what belongs to the people of KwaZulu-Natal, the economy wealth and the land,” said Duma.
Zuma apparently advised the leadership to foster unity in the party. “He has also just advised us on how to unite the province,” said Duma.
Earlier this month, Duma and his leadership visited former president Thabo Mbeki to seek wisdom.
Provincial Secretary Bheki Mtolo said they are committed to rebuilding the province and ensuring that the structures of the party are not left behind. “The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal understands the importance of seeking guidance and wisdom from its former leaders,” Mtolo previously said.
The ANC in KZN made it no secret how it feels about the treatment of Zuma by the party since he was forced to step down on February 14, 2018, and his imprisonment for being in contempt of court
