Gauteng police are investigating the death of a woman who was shot and killed in what seems to be a hit in Midrand, Johannesburg. A 38-year-old woman was found dead in her car which was riddled with bullets close to Olifantsfontein and Allendale roads in Midrand on Wednesday, Gauteng police said.
Police say the 38-year-old motorist, who was seated in her car on Wednesday morning, was approached by an unknown number of armed suspects. The suspects opened fire and killed the woman before they fled the scene. The murder appeared to have been a hit as the woman was killed in execution style.
Dimakatso Sello, the Gauteng police spokesperson said the motive for the shooting is unknown. “On arrival at the scene, a blue Hyundai i20 was found on the side of the road against a palisade fence. A woman was behind the steering wheel with gunshot wounds on her upper body. She was certified dead on the scene by the paramedics,” said Sello.
The motive behind the murder is unknown and a murder case is now under investigation. The police have called on anyone with information on the suspects who are believed to be armed and dangerous to come forward with the information.
