Loadshedding to continue for the week
Eskom has announced that power blackouts can be expected for the rest of the week throughout South Africa. For now, loadshedding has been put on stage 2, however, this can change momentarily. Eskom warns:
“Since the power system remains volatile and unpredictable, higher stages of loadshedding may be required.”
COP26’s sustainable energy solution deal to benefit South Africa
As the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference will end this week on the 12th of November, massive investments have been made. These investments are committed to assisting SA with the transition to clean energy.
It is said that many coal-fired power plants will be replaced with wind and solar installations all over the country. These installations will be smaller but will definitely be a more reliable power supply.
And once funding agreements have been finalised, it can be expected that the projects will kick off in the later stages of 2022.
The IFP confirms that they will not be entering coalitions with the ANC
After the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) won 10 municipalities in KZN, it was rumoured that they will join coalitions with the ANC. However, Velenkosini Hlabisa, the party’s president, put these rumours to rest during a media briefing on Sunday.
“The ANC has not been honest with us in the past. They have let down people of South Africa and the voters clearly expressed themselves when it comes to the ANC,” said Hlabisa.
