On Sunday, University of Limpopo lecturer Professor Mohamed Saber Tayob was killed while he was jogging. Polokwane police have since then launched a manhunt for the suspects who shot and killed him.
Tayob was a chartered accountant and associate professor at the University.
Professor Tayob was shot multiple times
Police spokesperson Brig Motlalefa Mojapelo confirmed that the professor was shot 10 times. He was jogging on Munnik Avenue in Polokwane on Sunday morning when a vehicle stopped next to him.
Mojapelo added that the vehicle first drove past Tayob before making a U-turn. And as can be seen in the video below, camera footage caught the moment a white VW Polo stopped beside Tayob and shot him.
“The vehicle stopped next to him and a passenger disembarked and allegedly shot the victim several times at point-blank. The suspects quickly drove away from the scene,” Mojapelo said.
