SA government to destroy 92 000 Pfizer vaccines
Despite strategising with COVAX and WHO at the beginning of March so that the thousands of expired vaccines do not go to waste, the South government has still failed to make any arrangements.
And now the government is set to destroy more than 92 000 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine that expires at the end of the month.
In February, the government announced the shortening of intervals between Pfizer shots and the ability to have a Pfizer booster regardless of if a person had a Johnson & Johnson jab. But still, there was not enough public demand for the vaccines and since no arrangements have been made to donate the vaccines, they will all go to waste.
