Recently, the Ukrainian ambassador to South Africa Liubov Abravitova said that in the case where President Zelensky spoke to President Rampahosa, he would urge Ramaphosa to “use his influence” to try to stop Russia’s Putin.
The ambassador added that she understands that South Africa wishes to remain neutral, however, “neutrality does not mean indifference”. And she believes that Ramaphosa should not avoid speaking out against Russia.
“I do believe the South African president would never be in favour of any violation of human rights and any war in any part of the world.”

And Absa Bank has also announced that they will be waiving excesses for flood-related claims. These waived fees are likely to amount to millions of rands.
Only in the last few days, the bank has already received 1 634 claims from KZN.
