Eskom customers to pay more from 1 April
From today, 1 April, all customers who rely on Eskom for electricity, will have to pay more than usual. The power utility initially wanted a 20.5% tariff hike, however, Nersa only granted a 9.61% increase earlier in the year.
According to the general manager at Nersa, the tariff increase will be impacting customers who directly buy electricity from Eskom. And while the increase is much lower than Eskom originally wanted, it will still contribute to the rising cost of living for most customers.
Municipalities will also experience a tariff hike in July.

Masemola was previously a former head of the police’s VIP Protection Unit, and according to Ramaphosa, Masemola now has the “weight of the nation’s expectations” on his shoulders.
