University of Cape Town gets shut down by students
On Wednesday, students disrupted UCT lectures and barricaded roads surrounding the campus over registrations and outstanding fee debt issues.
On Tuesday, an open letter was sent to the university’s Vice-Chancellor from the UCT Student’s Representative Council (SRC). In the letter, they stated that the university had failed to ensure that all students were registered and “exhibited a lack of urgency over the matter”.
Since then, UCT has agreed to have all students registered by Monday.
