A female Tiger is currently on the loose in the City of Johannesburg.
Tiger is not believed to have gone far on foot
Current reports share that the female Tiger is still being searched for after it went missing sometime after 11 pm on Sunday night.
Since its escape, the Tigress has attacked one man, a Reindeer, and two dogs. One of which needed to be humanely euthanized as the injuries were beyond repair.
It is understood that the Tigress escaped the privately owned property after thieves had cut the fences. There is currently no information on what the motives were. However, a CPF spokesperson noted that a male Tiger didn’t escape and that it is at a safe location.
One male is currently in the hospital
The CPF spokesperson noted that the female Tiger couldn’t have gone far on foot and would still be in the surrounding area from which it escaped.
Residents in the south of Johannesburg are now urged to be on high alert as the different teams try to locate the missing Tiger. In case of being in close proximity to the Tigress, everyone is urged not to interact with it as the Tigress will attack unprovoked.
Further reports note that the Tiger injured the male who was on his way home from work last night. The extent of his injuries is not known. However, it is reported that the individual is now in hospital.
In describing the situation, a CPF spokesperson noted that the man was walking in the street and tying his shoelaces. It is at this point that the Tigress attacked him from behind. People in the surrounding area responded to the loud scream outside and shoed the Tigress away with firefighters.
If anyone in Walkerville and the surrounding areas spots the female Tiger, they are urged to call emergency services at 083 292 5862.
