A suspected robber was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at a Spur in Centurion. The incident happened on Sunday afternoon when four men walked into the restaurant to rob it.
Colonel Dimakatso Sello, the police spokesperson said four men entered the restaurant at around 18:30pm, and of the alleged robbers approached the manager and ordered him at gunpoint to proceed to the office without acting suspicious.
“The security guard noticed this and swiftly reacted, fatally shooting the suspect while the other three fled the scene. The suspects firearm with a filed off serial number was seized. Police are still searching for the three suspects, and a case of business robbery was opened at Wierdabrug,” Sello said.
Kyle van Reenen from Eme-G-Med Paramedics said they responded to a call of an alleged shooting which happened at Spur in a shopping mall in Centurion. “Reports from the scene are that a male approximately thirty years of age was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.”
AfriForum’s Ernst Roets described the armed robbery at Lifestyle Centre Spur in Centurion as a very horrible experience for him and his family. Roets was celebrating his son’s birthday when the armed men stormed into the restaurant. The family witnessed the violent scene but were not harmed.
