The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced that payments of the R350 social relief of distress (SRD) grants will start today and continue next week for the rest of the month.
The rest of the first week of February will be reserved for payment of old age, child and visibility grants.
Where to collect SASSA grants?
Approved beneficiaries are able to collect their payments at post offices by using the ID number system. This system determines the date that beneficiaries are allowed to collect payments according to the last three digits of their ID number.
Here is when you can collect your R350 grant:
The dates are applicable to the South African Post Office payout system. All beneficiaries will first receive a confirmation SMS from SASSA when payment is ready for collection.

Last week SASSA announced that there was a delay in the process of applicants who requested a “reconsideration” for the SRD grant. The agency recommended beneficiaries to rather switch to bank accounts instead of choosing the “cash send” option.
SASSA also urged recipients to update their personal details if they got married and their surname changed.
“Sassa validates the client’s information with the department of home affairs monthly. If details do not match, the application for the period may be declined,” said Sassa.
