As the month of June draws to an end, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has recently confirmed the payment dates for the month of July. SASSA grant beneficiaries that are not collecting the R350 grant payments are allowed to collect their money at the South African Post Office (SAPO) branches.
Sassa estimates that about 46%of South Africans receive social grants from the organisation. Sassa said its beneficiaries which includes pensioners, people with disabilities and children, would be paid from second day of the month, if possible.
Due to the fact that the second day of July falls over a weekend, the grant payments will be paid out on the following working day. Payments are issued earlier than they did, but they still follow the same order. The elderly and associated grants are still prioritised first, and the rest will follow.
SASSA July payment dates:
- Monday 4 July 2022: Older Persons Grant
- Tuesday 5 July: Disability Grant
- Wednesday 6 July: Children’s Grant
The post office does not issue out payments of the Covid-19 social relief of distress (SRD) grants and the beneficiaries of the R350 grants are encouraged to collect from approved retail outlets or have the money deposited into their bank accounts directly.
Earlier this month Sassa confirmed that the Child Support Grant (CSG), which is a social grant for low-income families is planning on assisting with the costs of their children’s essential requirements. Anyone covered by the grants who is under 18 would benefit.
As a result, eligible children will now receive R720 which includes their R480 Child Support Grant (CSG), with an additional R240 (50% of the basic CSG).
