After posting their social grant payment dates, SASSA was forced to repost the schedule only a day later. The reason for reposting was reportedly due to a “human error”.
SASSA took action after social media post error
The error took place when a graphic was uploaded to SASSA’s social media pages. The important graphic gave three of the major payment dates, however, soon someone spotted a mistake in the text.
Earlier in the year, SASSA posted a calendar of payment dates for 2021. However, when they published October’s payment dates, the dates were out of sync with the original programme
“We have changed the social grant payment dates for October 2021: We apologise for the human error on the Twitter post for October, shared yesterday… The error has been corrected on a [updated] post.”
Social grants to be paid a day later
Luckily for SASSA and its beneficiaries, the disruption wasn’t too major. As a result of the error, all payment dates have now been pushed back by 24 hours.
The payment dates are as follow:
- Older person’s allowance: 5 October
- Disability allowance: 6 October
- All other grants: 7 October
The social media post also states that beneficiaries do not have to collect their grants on the exact day. The money will stay in the account until it has been withdrawn.
