Last week a guest at the Muldersdrift Hotel, Len Cloete, was shot in the head by a police officer in the heat of an argument. Cloete has been in a coma since the incident.
His wife, Chantal Cloete, spoke to Jacaranda FM to explain what happened. However, she still dodges a few important details.
Chantal Cloete’s side of the story
During the interview, she was asked twice to explain why the police were called to the hotel. This part of the story is still a mystery as the viral video started filming just as police asked Cloete to leave the premises. Instead, he fetched his own gun.
Chantal however dodged the questions and insisted that she was already asleep when the police arrived at their room. And according to her, police tried to “yank her out of bed”, which then angered and triggered her husband. She adds that Cloete is always prioritising her safety when she went to bed.
Chantal continued to defend her husband and said that he was a “family man” with seven children and not an aggressive person. And according to Chantal, Cloete told the police multiple times to arrest him so that the situation could be over with, however, it was the police who continued to fight.
And when asked why Cloete was naked at the beginning of the video, Chantal claims that he was busy changing.
“He tried to explain to the police that he was on his way to bed. He was in the process of putting on his pyjamas.”
