After already being dubbed the “most controversial” Miss South Africa, Lalela Mswane once again finds herself in a situation after being selected as the country’s representative at the upcoming Miss Supranational.
And since the announcement on Tuesday, Miss SA organisers have come under fire over their selection of Mswane.
All the Miss SA runners-up were meant to represent SA
South Africans are upset because it was previously announced that the top three Miss SA finalists would each represent South Africa at different pageants – Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Supranational.
Drum roll please 🥁….

We are excited to announce Miss South Africa 2021, @Lalela_lali will represent Mzansi at the 13th edition of @MissSupranatl 2022 this July in Poland! . 🇿🇦

The current top three consist of Lalela Mswane, Moratwe Masima and Zimi Mabunzi.
Former Miss SA, Shudufhadzo Musida has taken the spot of representing the country at the upcoming Miss World pageant. The event is set to take place on March 12 in Puerto Rico.
And after many controversies in the country, Mswane still took part in the Miss Universe pageant after the government withdrew support. The event was held in Israel and Mswane proudly came home with the title of second-runner up.
Mzansi not impressed with the pageant organisers
It has yet to be revealed why Mswane was selected over her two runner-ups and Mzansi was truly unimpressed by the decision. Many fans took to Twitter calling out the organisation for “failing” to give Masima and Mabunzi a chance to represent South Africa.
And since the announcement, Moratwe Masima has since removed “runner-up” from her Instagram page.

Miss SA organisation dropped a bomb that Lalela Mswane will represent SA at Miss Supranational this year.
So sad that Dr Moratwe & Zimi were meant to represent SA at Miss World & Miss Supranational
What does this mean for the Trio?#MissSA #misssupranational pic.twitter.com/rBvWHgO1S1
Now I believe y'all do favouritism. You sent Natasha to MU when Shudu was the reigning queen and available to go there. You sent Thato to Supranational when Shudu was the reigning Queen. Now the runner ups can't go to these contests because Lalela is the reigning Queen? https://t.co/YUdEWR4j4l
