Former president Jacob Zuma needs the nation to join hands in prayer to protect him from “dark forces that want to finish him.”
Jacob Zuma handlers explain why he needs prayer
This was the key take-away from the ‘lively’ press briefing held by daughter of the former president Duduzile Zuma-Sambundla and spokesperson of the Jacob Zuma Foundation Mzwanele Manyi, on Friday.
Zuma’s handlers made it clear that the call for prayer is a final resort to saving the life of a martyr. In their view, millions of South Africans were gravely concerned about his incarceration which, they insist, was a targeted attack against the 79-year-old.
“The people of South Africa have not forgotten that His Excellency President Zuma survived attempts in his life through poisoning,” the statement released after the press briefing read.
In essence, the Foundation and Zuma’s daughter have mobilised the national prayer to exorcise South Africans from memories of “how the Constitutional Court was clear and unequivocal that normal procedure that apply to everyone else will not apply to him.”
“As if the incarceration that he has already suffered is not enough, other hateful right-wing organisations are still not happy, they want him back to the cold cells as of yesterday,” the statement exclaimed.
Shortly after the medical parole of Zuma was announced, AfriForum, a lobbyist group, file urgent court papers to have the procedure of the parole reviewed, albeit outgoing national corrections commission Arthur Fraser had already admitted that the parole board’s dismissal of Zuma’s medical release application was overruled.
What’s Zuma’s medical condition?
Part of the mistrust surrounding the parolee right now is due to the fact that no one outside of the inner circle has seen Zuma. It’s said that after he was released from prison, the former president allegedly returned to his compound in Nkandla, KZN. Other claims have been made that he is held under medical observation at a university hospital.
The Foundation has made it clear this is neither the business of those genuinely worried about Zuma, nor of any concern to the media which, in a democracy, is duty bound to inform unbiasedly.
“The NPA could not even wait for the report of the Military Hospital, they already appointed their own doctor to examine President Zuma. By the grace of God their shoddy attempts were not fruitful. God protected H.E President Zuma from the busy bodies that wanted to get access to nitty gritty detail of his medical history. Wenzen’ Zuma,” the statement continued.
Details of the Zuma national prayer
At this time, it is unclear whether Zuma will be in attendance at the national prayer which is scheduled to take place at People’s Park in eThekwini on Thursday 14 October 2021, from 10:00.
Regarding the event’s COVID-19 protocols, the Foundation left the responsibility of making assurances of safety to God who, in their own words, “will ensure that Coronavirus is blown away and not passed on between the attendees.”
