After media queries started bombarding the family, a statement was released. And according to the family spokesperson, Dr Bhekuyise Ngqengelele Buthelezi, the IFP president is being treated for high blood pressure.
“It has somehow reached the ears of the media that Prince Buthelezi is currently in hospital. This is true. However, he is simply undergoing medical tests as he experienced high blood pressure on Monday night and subsequently felt unwell,” the statement read.
The family further shared that on Tuesday the doctors felt it would be best for the 93-year-old Buthelezi to be admitted for all necessary checks.
Another statement to be released when the IFP leader is home
Dr Buthelezi added that since there was no further information to report on, the family is requesting privacy.

The family appreciates the good wishes for Prince Buthelezi and will give any additional information when necessary when he returns home.
