Thus far, Leslie Phillips starred in four of the 31 Carry-On films to date. However, popular phrases such as “Ding Dong” and “Well, Hello” followed him for years on end.
It is the understanding that Leslie Phillips suffered a stroke before and that he recovered strongly after that. The actor reportedly suffered two strokes within a time span of two months.
In confirmation of the news, the actor’s agent, Jonathan Lloyd shared that Leslie Phillips died peacefully in his sleep this past Monday.
While Leslie Phillips started his career in the 1930s, the younger generation knows him quite well. This comes as he voiced the Harry Potter character Sorting Hat in the franchise’s multiple films.

Presently, his wife Zara told The Sun that “I’ve lost a wonderful husband and the public has lost a truly great showman. He was quite simply a national treasure. People loved him. He was mobbed everywhere he went.”
Since the news broke out of his passing, many celebrities, and public figures have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late star.
Pierce Morgan shared that his death was “sad news” and that he was a “wonderful character and superb comedy actor”. While other’s described the actor as “warm and funny”
In his career that spanned decades, Phillips worked with the likes of Steven Speilberg, Angelina Jolie, and Angela Hopkins. His film credits include The Man Who Liked Funerals, Brothers in Law, and The Smallest Show On Earth.
Leslie Phillips is survived by his wife Zara Carr whom he married in 2013. The pair never had any children together to date.
