The Department of Correctional Services has confirmed that Sindisiwe Manqele, the woman who was sentenced to 12 years for killing her boyfriend rapper Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi in 2015, has been released on Parole.
The 33-year-old woman was found guilty of killing her then boyfriend rapper “Flabba” when she stabbed him in the chest on 9 March 2015. Manqele was released on parole on Tuesday. She was sentenced to 12 years for the murder of Flabba and has now been released after serving seven years of her sentence.
Singabakho Nxumalo, the Department of Correctional Services spokesperson confirmed that she has been released under parole conditions.
“The Department of Correctional Services (DSC) is able to confirm that Ms Sindisiwe Precious Manqele has been placed under parole, effectively from May 24, 2022. This decision was taken by the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board, (CSPB) having assessed Manqele’s profile as submitted by the Case Management Committee and other material presented for the purposes of parole consideration,” Said Nxumalo
He said Manqele will finish the remaining years of the sentence under correctional supervision and will have to comply with the specific conditions which have been set.
“Manqele takes responsibility for the offence she committed and is remorseful about it. She completed all the identified programmes as per her Correctional Sentence Plan and participated in the victim-offender dialogue in 2018,” Nxumalo added.
He said she will have to abide by the rule and be subjected to supervision until her sentence expires on 23 May 2028.
