After 4 years of waiting, the community of Vosloorus can finally begin to heal after a barbaric incident took place. Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, the Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, has welcomed the hefty sentence imposed on the accused. The father, Musi Hlatshawayo, was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment after killing his three-year-old daughter.
The sad and gruesome killing of the child
On 24 January 20217, Siphesihle Ndlovu was left by her grandfather with her father. This was the last time her grandmother saw her beloved granddaughter. The 24-year-old father was to take her to preschool, however, he had other plans.
The father killed his daughter and proceeded to decapitate her. He threw her head into a stream and put her body on a tree branch in Vosloorus. Once the grandmother couldn’t find her, a missing child was reported to the police. The search was launched and the body was recovered after five days in an open veld. The police managed to trace and arrest the father.
Crimes against women and children remain a top priority for Gauteng Police
Lieutenant General Mawela congratulated the hard work and assures the public that crimes against women and children remain a top priority.
“We congratulate the detective for the hard work and thorough investigation that led to the successful conviction of the accused. The fight against crime committed against women and children remains on top of the Gauteng Police’s list of priorities. We are pleased with this successful conviction and believe it will send a strong message to those who abuse children.”
