The father of the three children who passed away after consuming an energy drink laced with poison, given to the kids by him, has died. The 39-year-old father of five who allegedly killed three of his children was in hospital on the day he passed away.
According to Colonel Brenda Muridili, the police spokesperson, he died on Friday while still in hospital. He was admitted to hospital after he allegedly tried to take his own life on 26 May and was placed under police guard. The father faced charges of murder and attempted murder.
16-year-old Lehlogonolo Khoabane, 13-year-old Katleho Khoabane and six-year-old Tebogo Ngcongwane were laid to rest this month after the consumed an energy drink given to them by their father which was allegedly mixed with poison.
The three brothers died after enduring stomach pains at school just before classes began. Two of the brothers were declared dead while they were still in the school premises and the third brother died on his way to hospital.
The fourth brother who also consumed the drink is still in hospital while the fifth brother is at home. The fifth brother is the only one who did not drink the poisonous energy drink. Their father tried to take his own life hours after the boys had left for schoolboy overdosing on pills and stabbing himself.
Th father was taken to hospital where he was under police guard facing charges of murder and attempted murder. He died in hospital two weeks after the incident took place.
