A 42-year-old Pretoria farmer accosted by three armed suspects in his workshop managed to grab a firearm from one of the suspects and fire shots at them.
The incident happened in Kameeldrift West in Tshwane on Sunday night around 21: 31 and was captured on CCTV footage.
Dimakatso Sello, the Gauteng police spokesperson said the man was busy in his workshop when he was accosted by the three suspects.
The CCTV footage shows two suspects appearing in the camera’s frame standing near the workshop’s entrance. As the suspects enter the workshop a third suspects appears. One of the suspects walking in front can be seen carrying a gun while the other is carrying a knife.
The farmer was pointed with a gun as he came out. Realising that he was outnumbered he complied with the suspects. The victim sat on the floor and can be heard begging for his life and the suspects held him gunpoint.
The suspects grabbed him and tried to get him out of the workshop, one can only guess what the suspects wanted to do with him.
The brave man found courage while they were pulling him out and managed to grabbed a firearm from one of the suspects and immediately opened fire, sending them running for their lives.
The brave farmer can be heard swearing and telling someone “they wanted to kill me”.
Sello said the suspects did not take anything from the property and added that one of the suspects is believed to have been wounded. Although the suspects were not arrested, a knife was recovered, and balaclava was also found near a trail of blood on the ground.
