A North West family is offering R90 000 for information that will help lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspects who allegedly killed Juandre Kidson and injured his wife while trying to steal their one-year-old daughter. The incident happened on the N4 in Brits on 7 May.
The family said they are trying to come to terms with the fact that Kidson was killed in such a “gruesome way while trying to protect his family”. According Juandre’s brother Marc, the incident as they were travelling back home from a family visit.
“My sister-in-law had texted my mom few minutes before the incident occurred. She had told my mom that she must say a prayer as they didn’t feel safe on the road they were on as they needed to stop and change tyres. When my mom tried to call them minutes later, there was no answer to the calls or WhatsApp messages,” said Marco
Kidson was travelling home with his wife Johanette, and their daughter when the car tyre had a puncture by the rocks on the road. He pulled over on the side of the road to change the punctured tyre. While he was trying to change the tyre, three armed men approached. Marco said: “He was shot and killed in front of his wife and baby while begging for mercy for his family. His wife, Johanette, was shot in the shoulder as she fought the men off who tried to grab their baby from her arms.”
An initial offer of R50 000 was offered for information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the three suspects. The offer has now been increased to R90 000.
