Come January 2024, Defy is set to launch its new range of solar-operated appliances to South Africans nationwide. This will make South Africa one of the leaders in fighting against climate change.
The appliance company is working hard at their plant situated in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal to create a more green range of appliances to combat not only the growing concern for climate change but also the foreseeable electricity issues that are faced by all South Africans as Eskom continues to work on the ongoing energy crisis that has hit South Africa.
The product range available from Defy will be quite extensive
The appliances that can be expected to hit the market in the new year include fridges and freezers. Next up will be stoves, ovens, dryers, and top-loading washing machines. Trade, Industry, and Competition Minister Ebrahim Patel said “I am delighted that Defy is focusing on making these fridges and freezers affordable, enabling a broader consumer base to transition to green appliances,”. This statement was made during his recent visit to Defy in KZN which was hosted by the CEO of Defy Appliances, Mustafa Soylu.
The new units, designed to operate exclusively on solar energy, will be equipped with an attached battery system, enhancing their efficiency and eco-friendliness.
Defy supporting the local economy
South Africa’s appliances giant continues to make substantial contributions to the local economy, employing over 2,000 workers in South Africa and producing 1.5 million appliances locally.
