Newly re-elected Ekurhuleni mayor Tania Campbell has made eight new appointments to her mayoral committee.
Democratic Alliance (DA) members make up the majority of the Ekurhuleni executive committee.
This comes after Campbell was re-elected as the mayor of Ekurhuleni.
“I know this team is fit for the task at hand and I wish them all the best with their new responsibilities,” said Campbell on Tuesday.
Campbell spent two weeks out of office after she was removed through a motion of no confidence which was led by the African National Congress (ANC).
She returned to her position last week Tuesday after she was re-elected by council with the help of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), following their breakdown in talks with the ANC on who should be the mayor of Ekurhuleni.
The new committee does not include ActionSA members after the party pulled out of the coalition, blaming Campbell for refusing to visit the townships.
Seven people appointed to form part of her executive were DA councillors, with three positions bagged by coalition partners.
ActionSA indicated that it would be pulling out of the coalition agreement in Ekhurhuleni, leaving the DA to govern with the IFP, ACDP, Freedom Front Plus and Cope.
The newly appointed mayoral committee includes:
- MMC for finance: Fanyana Nkosi (DA)
- MMC for Health and Social Development: Jennifer Glover (FF PLUS)
- MMC for Transport Planning: Mabekenyane Thamahane (DA)
- MMC for Water, Sanitation and Energy: Senzi Sibeko (DA)
- MMC for Real Estate: Tambo Mokoena (ACDP)
- MMC for Corporate and Shared Services: Golden Maduana (DA)
- MMC for Human Settlement: Alco Ngobese (IFP)
- MMC for City Planning: Heather Hart (DA)
- MMC for environment and Waste Management Services: Brandon Pretorius (DA)
- MMC for Community Safety: Khathutshelo Rasilingwane (DA
Campbell said her new mayoral committee would deal with the issues faced by the city.
