The Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II, has died at the age of 96. As the UK’s longest-serving monarch, the Queen has died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.
This breaking news comes after some concerns the Queen was experiencing as of late with her health after contracting Covid-19 again this year. In order to keep her health the number one priority the Queen had cancelled multiple events and engagements.
She’s struggled as of late with “episodic mobility problems” and has been forced to use a walking stick.
Her Majesty marked her Platinum Jubilee this year – 70 years on the throne – making her the longest-reigning monarch in British history. Celebrations across the UK took place with the queen making multiple appearances.
At Buckingham Palace in London, crowds awaiting updates on the Queen’s condition began crying as they heard of her death. The Union flag on top of the palace was lowered to half-mast at 18:30 BST and an official notice announcing Queen Elizabeth II’s death was posted outside.
The Prince of Wales, Charles Philip Arthur George, is expected to take the throne as King, while his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, will be known as Queen Consort.
