A 28-year-old man from Bloemfontein has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother and leaving his uncle fighting for his life in hospital.
The incident took place on Friday after police received a complaint of a murder in Kagisanong, Bloemfontein, at about 07:00. When they arrived at the house they were led to a room where a lifeless body of a 65-year-old woman was lying.
“The victim had multiple stab wounds on the head and body,” Lieutenant-Colonel Thabo Covane, the police spokesperson said.
The victim’s brother, who called the police said the victim’s son attacked his mother after she refused to give him money for drugs.
“The suspect got angry, went out of the house, came back with a piece of iron and stabbed the deceased with it several times. When he was done, he turned to the complainant and also stabbed him in the chest,” Covane added.
Shaun Herbst, the Netcare911 spokesperson said on arrival they were met by an angry crowd gathered outside the home.
“On closer inspection, an elderly lady was found lying in a pool of blood on the bathroom floor. An elderly male in his 60’s was fund alive in the house, covered head to toe in blood
“The female patient, believed to be approximately 65 years old was assessed, however, showed no signs of life and was sadly declared deceased on the scene with multiple stab wounds. The elderly man sustained serious injuries and was treated on scene before being transported by ambulance to the hospital.”
The uncle could not go and look for help as the young man had locked them in the room after allegedly stabbing them. They received help the next morning.
