Arthur Fraser laid criminal charges against Ramaphosa at the Johannesburg police station, accusing him of stealing $4million (more than R60 million) and paying people to conceal the matter. Fraser also accused the president of defeating the ends of justice, kidnapping suspects who were allegedly interrogated in his property at Phala farm in the Waterberg district of Limpopo.
The former-director-general of the State Security Agency who has been heavily implicated in testimony at the State Capture Commission of Enquiry, opened a criminal case against President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday.
Fraser said he laid formal criminal charges against Ramaphosa at Rosebank police station yesterday. He said he gave the police supporting documents which include photographs, bank accounts and video footage.
“Today I have taken the unprecedented step to lay charges against his excellency of the Republic of South Africa, Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa. The details of the charges and supporting evidence include photographs, bank accounts, video footage and names are contained in my statement filed at the Rosebank police station,” Fraser said in a statement.
Fraser said Ramaphosa’s conduct and that of others was in breach of the anti-corruption laws.
“I trust that the police and the prosecuting authorities will investigate this matter without fear or favour. I also trust that the president will take the nation into his confidence and accept or deny that the events I describe in my affidavit occurred on his property,” he added.
Fraser role in the abuse of the state security under the leadership of Jacob Zuma became known at the Zondo Commission into state capture. He in turn hit back at those who implicated him laying criminal charges against them.
