On Saturday, the 26th of August, South African fans of the highly popular reality singing show The Masked Singer witnessed the exceptional Holly Rey being crowned the winner of the first Season. Each captivating episode features celebrated personalities and entertainment icons showcasing their vocal talents by performing well-known songs. Dressed in elaborate full-body costumes and masks that conceal their true identities, they create an air of intrigue.
These flamboyant masks and costumes possess distinct personas, sparking conversations as lively as the performances themselves. A team of celebrity sleuths endeavours to unravel the mystery behind each mask, utilising their keen instincts and wits.
The finale episode had reached a crescendo with Holly Rey aka Lollipop winning the hearts of the nation and in doing so, clinched the coveted Golden Mask Trophy. The competition was fierce and saw Lollipop go head-to-head with other disguised celebrities.
In a round of eliminations Holly came out tops against an array of A-Listers such as Lion, award-winning actor Abdul Khoza, celebrated TV Presenter Maps Maponyane aka Tree as well as Rhino who turned out to be none other than Afrikaans iconic music superstar Kurt Darren.
Celebrating Holly Rey’s exceptional win, Mercedes-Benz South Africa, the official driver of The Masked Singer South Africa handed over the keys to a brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 d on Monday 28th August. Finished in Spectral Blue Metallic and sporting the dynamic AMG Sports package with 20-inch sports rims the new GLC epitomises the same visual extravagance that Lollipop exuded on stage.
