In order to live up to its corporate social responsibility, Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) is proud to announce the donation of Mercedes-Benz Vans to charitable organisations involved in education, community upliftment, sport for development and environmental sustainability.
Commenting on the donation Andreas Brand, Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-South Africa and Executive Director of Manufacturing said, “Beyond our core business activities, we are committed to corporate social responsibility and pride ourselves in making tangible contributions in our communities. Today’s donation demonstrates our commitment to use our resources to enable NPOs to be agents of positive social change.”
The vehicles donated will support the charitable organisations with transportation, the delivery of educational materials and extracurricular activities, and enable easier access to communities and beneficiaries across their scope of work. Among the deserving recipients of this donation are Kid Links Small Farm Incubator, Land of the Living, African Angels Independent School, Rally to Read, Waves for Change, Border Cricket and Sporting Chance. These organisations correspond with MBSA’s corporate social responsibility focus areas of education, community upliftment, youth empowerment, sport for development and environmental sustainability, amongst others.
“We wish to thank Mercedes-Benz South Africa for the most generous contribution to our cause and for its commitment to making a difference to the community. The difference and benefit this will bring to our programme is not only tangible and impact will be felt for a long time,” said Lou Billet, Founder and Chairperson of the African Angels Independent School.
