The prestigious 2023 Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards – which celebrate South Africa’s culinary excellence by recognising esteemed chefs and restaurants alike – took place on Sunday, 19 November at Cape Town’s GrandWest Grand Arena. For the second year running, Lexus served as the proud and exclusive automotive partner to the definitive restaurant guide, in association with Woolworths.
This year boasted an all-female line-up of chefs who prepared a beautifully-paired five course menu that left attendees salivating for more. The food served at the awards captured the essence of fine dining whilst celebrating the best in the industry, from culinary experts to amazing experiences at the finest restaurants the country has to offer.
Fifty-one winners were awarded with stars this year, an increase from last year’s 42, proving that the fine dining industry continues to evolve and ascend to new heights.

Other noteworthy accolades were awarded to Restaurant Klein JAN (Tswalu) which won the Eat Out Lexus Style Award as well as Restaurant Wolfgat for winning the Eat Out Lexus Best Destination Award.
The overall winner was Colombe in Constantia which was awarded Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant of the Year, having attained the highest score of any restaurant in the country. The Eat Out Woolworths Financial Services Chef of the Year award went to Ryan Cole, the head chef and co-owner of Salsify at The Roundhouse in Camps Bay.
