Teacher’s day is celebrated every year on the 5th of October. That is, to recognize the efforts teachers make to transform the educational sector.
Why do we celebrate Teacher’s day
This year, the main theme of Teacher’s day will be to recognize that “the transformation of education begins with teachers.” and essentially the role they play in shaping the lives of children.
As shared by the Indian Express, many things take place in order to commemorate this day. Presently, teachers in different regions may come together to discuss the challenges they face. As well as possible ways this can be alleviated.
While teachers play a central role in shaping the education sector, they also face challenges on a day-to-day basis. Whether this takes the form of difficult children or current teaching conditions.
This is why teacher’s day is celebrated so that educators can be appreciated and shown that their work and contribution to society do not go unnoticed by the different communities in which they work.
In a statement shared by Unesco, the organization noted the aim of Teacher’s Day and what they aim to do this year.
“Today, on World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the critical role of teachers in transforming learners’ potential by ensuring they have the tools they need to take responsibility for themselves, for others and for the planet. We call on countries to ensure that teachers are trusted and recognised as knowledge producers, reflective practitioners, and policy partners,”
To date, Teacher’s day is celebrated in a variety of ways. With some teachers being treated to a spa day. In other instances, a simple appreciation message for teachers is given to show gratitude for what they do.
Among the many things that take place on this day, schools also organize different cultural events. For teachers to participate in. That may include school kids or it may be a teachers only event.
