Jacaranda FM has announced its new partnership with Nicole Englebrecht will allow Afrikaans-speaking listeners of her podcast to hear the most important stories in their mother tongue.
Podcaster partners with Jacaranda FM
Since 2019, Nicole Engelbrecht has been entertaining South Africans with her True Crime podcast. Now Jacaranda FM will allow Afrikaans to listen to the podcast in a language they know best.
Thus far, the True Crime podcast has amassed at least 3 million downloads since the launch of the podcast. Right now, the podcast deals with some of the biggest crime topics that have impacted South Africa.
So far, Gerda De Sousa from Jacaranda FM will be taking on the role of relaying these stories in Afrikaans. The news editor shared some words herself about the new project at the radio outlet.
“This is a breakthrough podcast project for Jacaranda FM as it’s the first series in which we capture the listener’s imagination with true crime stories that come from our country, translated specifically for our Afrikaans market,”

As for Nicole Engelbrecht, the podcaster expressed her excitement for the new project. She shared that she is ecstatic to have her podcast be acknowledged by Jacaranda FM.
“Behind every single one of the stories told on True Crime South Africa are many very real human beings, and it’s those victims whose voices are now getting even greater reach. Stories are always more impactful when they’re being told in your home language”

To end her statement about the new partnership. Nicole shared that she is grateful and honored to have Gerda De Sousa be a part of this new project.

To date, the podcast will launch today 16th August. Episodes will then be released every second Tuesday on Jacpod.
