With all the turmoil the world has faced in recent years, overall wellbeing has somewhat deteriorated. But if we can strive to keep our chins up and stay positive, we could make the world around us a happier place. Even if it is one small step at a time. Let’s work together for 2022’s International Day of Happiness and try to uplift ourselves and those around us.
How to Take Part in International Day of Happiness 2022
There are many ways to improve your wellbeing. We sometimes just need little reminders of what they are and how to do them. Firstly, do something for yourself. It is amazing what just a little bit of self-care can do for your own state of mind, and yet it is one of the things we neglect most in life. Remember that looking after yourself is not a luxury, it is a necessity. So try to give yourself me-time on a regular basis. Make self-care the norm.
Secondly, do something for someone else. Acts of kindness not only boost the mental state of the receiver, but can also be immensely rewarding for you as the giver. It could be anything, from a donation to simply sending someone a positive message.
Other than these couple of tips, you could also join the International Happiness Day 2022 community and take part in their activities. For example, sign up for the free ten days of happiness coaching. Or join the webinars hosted by world-leading happiness experts.
Where Did International Day of Happiness Originate?
In 2011, President of the World Happiness Foundation, Jayme Illien proposed the idea of the International Day of Happiness at the United Nations General Assembly. With the idea of informing people about the importance of happiness. While also establishing the need to incorporate happiness into public policies. So in 2012 the UN established the day, leading to its first commemoration in 2013.
Jayme Illien is also the founder of a concept called Happytalism. “An economic system, socio-political philosophy, and human development paradigm which places the primacy of happiness, well-being, and freedom at the center of human development and all life.”
