Constantia Gupta’s family mansion in a “state of disrepair”
While the Gupta’s mansion is in a state of disrepair, the mansion has now been put on the market to avoid any more possible damage to the large property. Independent Online reports this mansion to be one of the most expensive properties in Constansia.
Back in 2018, the mansion was put “under restraint” after it was found that the Gupta’s could have bought the mansion with the R250 million public money, which was meant for poor Dairy Free State farmers.
According to the Daily Maverick, the mansion went on sale as early as December 30th. A spokesperson revealed that the sale was done in conjunction with a curator and the Business Rescue Practitioners.
The publication also noted that the Gupta’s also own the infamous Saxonwold mansion which was bought through their company Islandsite Investments 180. However, they noted that this property will not be for sale at this time.
Over the years, the Gupta’s infamous family mansion has been part of unfavorable media attention. In 2017, the mansion was under scrutiny after it was found that a tap was left open. The total amount of water used amounted to 20 kilolitres a month. Even though only three staff members occupied the building.
So, the property now on sale includes seven bedrooms, a pool, a one-bedroom cottage, and a gym. Years ago, the mansion made headlines again for suggested upgrades by the Gupta’s. At the time, the family sought to extend the property but was ultimately kicked against by the community at large.
