Tomorrow is Heritage Day and South Africans are getting ready as we speak. Pack that cooler box, clean the grid and invite your friends. Celebrate “braai day” in one of these amazing braai spots in the beautiful Eastern Cape.
Enjoy a braai in the Addo Elephant National Park
Jack’s Picnic Site is located right in the middle of the park surrounded by beautiful greenery. The site is equipped with private shaded picnic tables and built-in brick braais. Relax at the fire, take the nature in and you might just be lucky enough to gaze up at the world’s largest mammal.
Pearson Park Resort
Located along the banks of the Sundays River, this braai spot offers grass sites with magnificent views. Make sure to pack your own grid and table and chairs. And if the fire gets too hot, feel free to go fishing and swimming in the river.
Set up for a braai at The Island Nature Reserve
This lesser-known spot is perfect for a secluded Heritage Day braai. It’s located in the middle of the Seaview dune forest and consists of two large grassed areas. Enjoy a long and lazy family braai or tackle the 16km hiking trail.
Van Stadens Resort
You can find this beautiful seaside resort midway between PE and Jeffrey’s Bay. With braai sites and picnic tables along the Van Stadens River and overlooking a stunning lagoon, it will feel like paradise. Activities include canoeing, paddle skis, pedal boats and dune boards.
