Dr Malinga is going through some tough times after the coronavirus pandemic took a toll on his finances. The musician shared his story with Mac G.
Musician talks financial troubles
To date, Dr Malinga talked about how the entertainment industry was impacted during the coronavirus pandemic. Evidently, many entertainers were unable to get gigs during a time when the world came to a complete halt.
Right now, it seems Dr Malinga is still trying to recover from his struggles as the musician pleaded with South Africans to book him for gigs so that he may start making money to pay off his debts.
During his interview, Dr Malinga shared with Mac G that he owed the South African Revenue Service R2 million. The musician managed to pay 1 million of his debts and had arranged to pay the other two million.
However, the musician couldn’t keep to his arrangement, and Sars took matters into their own hands and took some of his furniture and car as collateral for the money he currently owes the service.
Dr Malinga shares no one helped him
It is through this that Dr Malinga pleaded with South Africans to book him for gigs so that he may start having an income to take care of his family and take care of his debts.
Thus far, the musician also stressed that he reached out to many people including those he had worked with for help. However, he shared that no one came to his rescue.
“I was calling people I worked with. I called many people, but they didn’t come to my rescue. Every time I would call people and ask can you help and they never did.”
But, podcast and chill viewers have decided to donate to the musician following the news of his financial struggles. In a Twitter post, Innocent Masuka gave Dr Malinga a few words of encouragement.
“Dr Malinga my big brother. I know the pain you are going through. I know the pain of loosing everything and start over. Please be strong. Everything will pass”
