A recipe that is perfect for any special day. These elderflower fritters are easy and stress-free to make, following much the same method as normal fritters but with the special edition of elderflower.
What is Elderflower?
Elderflower is the white blossom of the elderberry tree. It is often used as a flavouring in many foods and beverages. Said to taste a little like pear, but in a more perfumed way. Its flavour is hard to describe, so I recommend giving them a taste in order to really know.
Health Benefits of Elderflower
One of the wonderful things about the elderflower in these fritters is that they have been known to come with many health benefits. The extract from the flower itself is used in many medicines. And has been known to treat things such as sinusitis, bronchitis and colds and flues. It has also been said that elderflower extract can be gargled to help fight coughs, as well as being used on the skin for joint pain and inflammation. All in all, it’s a wonderful little flower.
Quick to Make
In less than half an hour your sweet warm elderflower fritters will be ready for serving. It’s as simple as mixing together your eggs with cinnamon and sugar. Then combining that with milk, flour and water mix, making a runny batter. From here all you need to do is dip each one of these pretty white flowers into the batter. Then fry them until golden brown.
