Kit Harington spent nearly a decade playing “Jon Snow” in Game of Thrones and appeared in 62 of the 73 episodes. And with such an extensive library of emotional and action-packed episodes to choose from, one would think it was impossible to choose a favourite.
Jon Snow was where the action was
Each episode of Game of Thrones was massive in terms of production design, stakes, and overall plot. However, the episodes that focused on Harington’s character definitely provided most of the action.
From the very first episode, it was clear that Jon Snow’s story would be a driving point of the series. And fans of the show watched how he became one of the best swordsmen and “solidified himself as a leader” and all-around good guy in Westeros.
All of these moments lead him on various dangerous journeys. But there was one specific season 5 journey that would be Harington’s favourite Game of Thrones episode.
Game of Thrones episode, “Hardhome”, is Kit Harington’s favourite episode
In a recent interview, Harington revealed that his all-time favourite episode is episode 8, season 5, “Hardhome”.
According to Harington, this episode is where the series “ramped up a little bit and became even bigger.”
In this episode, Jon Snow learns that his Valyrian Steel sword is capable of killing White Walkers and also illustrates how successful he can be as a leader.
“Jon bravely travels into enemy territory in an attempt to save the lives of his enemies and join forces with them. The bone-chilling ending of the episode found Jon Snow and the Night King face to face, seemingly setting up a clash.”
This episode set up so many new elements for the show and is one of the most action-packed episodes. It truly showed that the real threat to humans in Westeros was the Night King and his army of the undead.
And although many viewers were disappointed by the fact that Jon Snow and the Night King never had their fight, this episode still set up a “climactic showdown that would define much of the final few seasons”.
