Chicken Licken is known for always getting it right with its clever and humourful advertisements. And their latest ad proves it again, with Lebani Sirenje, aka Rasta The Artist, helping introduce their latest Soul Bites Snack.
Who is this controversial artist?
Rasta The Artist is known for his controversial portraits of celebrities and is often criticised for his work not resembling said celebrities. He was born in Zimbabwe and is currently living in South Africa.
Rasta’s speciality pieces are mostly of celebrities who have passed away. He recently drew the late Desmont Tutu, FW de Klerk and Winnie Mandela.

In the 45-second ad, Rasta can be seen in a police station applying for a job as a sketch artist. But as the police officer is taking a look at Rasta’s work, he bites into a “nugget of wisdom”. This then allows him to envision what police life would be like if Rasta was hired.
In the vision, we see Rasta’s drawings getting worse and worse, and police end up arresting any innocent person who resembles the drawing in any small way – even their own.
The police officer snaps back to reality and is horrified by the potential disaster as the whole of South Africa can’t help but let out a laugh. And as for Rasta, perhaps he should stick to his celebrity portraits.
