After a video was posted on social media of musician Makhadzi shoving one of her dancers off of the stage, the artist posted her own video, setting the record straight.
People were shocked after the video and Makhadzi felt no choice but to address the incident since she believes she had a good reason for her actions.
Makhadzi wanted to save the show
In the video, the singer is dancing and singing when her dancer starts pouring water into the crowd. However, a lot of the water was landing on the stage and equipment.
“We were performing my Yellowbone song, so you know there is a part where we say ‘cheers to life, champopo’, so we must bring the party, you must see that we are vibing because the song is vibing as well.”
Makhadzi spots this and proceeds to push the dancer off the stage. However, according to the singer, she wanted to move the dancer out of the way to stop her from wetting the stage which could have cut their performance short.

And as the song was only second on her setlist, she could not allow the stage to be wet for the rest of the show.
“I saw that she wanted to pour water on the stage and unfortunately, if she can pour water on stage, we won’t continue performing because the stage would have become slippery.”
Makhadzi further explains that because she was so caught up in the moment, her mind was thinking of everything at once and she didn’t think that her dancer would fall off the stage.
“I was trying to push her towards the edge of the stage not off. Unfortunately, I was focusing on her and the crowd and didn’t think that I would actually push her off [the] stage.”
