Victoria Beckham credits her Spice Girls persona for making her more confident in her choices. She also believes that having an alter ego “fast-tracked” her to believe in herself.
Posh Spice definitely opened doors for Victoria Beckham in more ways than one. The persona gave her many opportunities that helped her become who she is today. From singing in front of thousands of people, to acting, and to now being a top fashion designer and mother of four.
“I have so much appreciation for Posh. At the time, I was young and quite shy, so having Posh Spice as a persona fast-tracked me in terms of finding my inner confidence and self-belief,” Victoria said.
“I’ve always loved fashion and beauty, and becoming Posh Spice taught me to trust my instincts and embrace my passions.”
Acting in Spiceworld: The Movie
When Spiceworld first came out in 1997, it was the first acting part the Spice Girls had and fans all around the world couldn’t get enough of it.
Recently, fellow Spiceworld actor Richard E. Grant insisted that she is far funnier than her “po-faced” reputation would lead to believe. And Victoria says she feels “glad” that she made a good impression on him.
He said last month: “Victoria was genuinely funny. So this reputation she has accrued for being po-faced and not giving away much is so at odds with the person I worked with. I absolutely adored her.”
The perfect [Posh] dress-up party
On top of everything she has going on, Victoria and her husband, David Beckham, run a busy household with four children – Brooklyn (22), Romeo (19), Cruz (16), and daughter Harper (10). And she wonders whether Harper will enjoy dressing up in her old stage outfits one day.
“Our wardrobe was incredible. My mum has an archive of my Spice Girl looks that perhaps one day Harper will enjoy dressing up in.”
