The 2022 Brit Awards was held on the 8th of February and to no one’s surprise – Adele stole the night. The British singer went home with three awards, and all three just happen to be the top awards of the evening.
Adele had the honour of winning Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for her “divorce album” 30, and Song of the Year for her ballad, Easy on Me.
And during her acceptance speech for Easy on Me, she jokingly said, “I can’t believe a piano ballad won up against that many bangers.”
Adele’s love for being a “female artist”
The 2022 Brit Awards is the first year that the “Artist of the Year” category was genderless. And while accepting the award, she addressed the change and, while she understands the meaning behind it, she’s still really proud of being a female artist.
“I understand why the name of this award has changed, but I really love being a woman and being a female artist. I do. I’m really proud of us,” she said.
And what Adele fans especially appreciate from the artist is how humble she stays and always give solid great advice – even when accepting awards.
“Never lose sight of why you are who you are. The reason people are into you is because of something you have in you. Don’t let go of that ever.”
All the Brit Awards winners
The rest of the evening was successful for other artists as well. Ed Sheeran nabbed the songwriter award, Sam Fender was named best rock act and Silk Sonic was named International Group of the Year.
It was especially a memorable moment when Little Simz won Best New Artist and she brought her mother on stage with her.
“Look at what you’ve done, Mum,” she said, as her mom stood by her overcome with emotions.
