Thapelo Molomo is flying high after singing his heart out on Idols.
This past Sunday, Thapelo Molomo reigned supreme after being crowned the winner of Idols season eighteen. The singer performed his debut single Phanda on the show’s season finale.
Thapelo Molomo gets a record deal with Kalwee Jazmee Records
Thus far, Nozi Sibiya was this season’s runner-up. She went home with a record deal with Kalawee Jazmee Records. As the winner, Thapelo Molomo took home a prize of over a million rand.
The prize included a R350 000 in a Standard Bank MyMo account, a R300 000 from Spotify, and R300 000 from Mzanzi Magic. Molomo also received access to a Standard Bank wealth manager, a Toyota Starlet, a Truworths voucher with all of his live outfits to the value of R100 000, and R85 000 worth of Yamaha musical equipment. He also won a contract with Kalawee Jazmee Records.
After announcing that Thapelo Molomo was the winner, the singer and psychologist shared a short thanks. That is, to those who had voted for him.

Bheki Cele supports the Idols winner
In a previous interview with News24, Thapelo Molomo shared that he was very much ready to participate in the competition this time around.
“I’ve been following Idols for quite a few years, but I was not ready at the time, so, this year, I felt very much ready, and it inspired me to take the risk of coming to Idols. I believe this is my season.”

During the season finale, General Bheki Cele decided to be in attendance for the special moment. Upon making a success of his time on the show, Bheki Cele expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Thapelo Molomo.
“The member serves as a beacon of hope for many police officers who are on a daily basis faced with psychosocial challenges. He has illustrated to thousands of officers that hard work, determination and perseverance is the foundation of any successful human being,”
Over the past three years, Thapelo Molomo had worked as a psychologist in the Psychological Services Section. He was later employed as a trauma counselor.
