On Tuesday evening, 7 December, Naledi Willers sadly passed away. The Real Housewives of Johannesburg star had been battling breast cancer for the past two years, and though it has not been officially confirmed, it is presumed that she had succumbed to the illness.
Family of Naledi, Boitumelo Ketso, confirmed to Drum that she “passed on” the evening of 7 December.
“But I can’t say yet give details of what happened. Her mom is still coming to terms with the news and the family spokesperson will keep every updated,” Boitumelo said.
Real Housewives shocked at the star’s death
The executive producer of Real Housewives of Johannesburg, Sonia Mbele, is still “shocked” by the news of Naledi’s passing.
“I personally can’t believe she is gone. She was such a fighter that I somehow thought she’s conquered and come to the other side being a survivor. However, God always has other plans.”
Naledi was open about her battle with cancer
In 2020, Naledi announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer on 29 November 2019. During the lengthy post, the reality star and businesswoman explained how she was diagnosed and was very open about how the pandemic affected her whilst on chemotherapy.
“The world buckled down and braced for the impact of Covid-19 while each day I was terrified that an encounter with the virus while on chemotherapy could result in my death due to my compromised immune system.”
However, Naledi also admits that she was glad for the lockdown as it offered her a “shelter” to deal with the cancer out of the public eye.
In truth, the lockdown also offered me shelter to go through all I have and still am going through the public eye. Life is what you make it and we choose how to look at things. This is how I chose to look at my reality,” she wrote.
