Mike Tyson was caught punching a man in the face during their flight to Florida on Thursday evening 21 April. It was later confirmed, however, that the man was not completely innocent during the altercation.
A patient Mike Tyson loses it
While boarding their flight from San Francisco to Florida, the man and his friend spotted Tyson boarding the same flight. The men approached the boxer, who was friendly and took a selfie with them.
And as can be seen in the video that was filmed by the friend, the man was seated right behind the boxer on the plane.
And according to witnesses, Tyson was patient with the “overly excited” man when he kept trying to talk to him while on the plane.
However, it seems that Tyson’s patience soon ran out as the man wouldn’t leave him alone, even after the boxer asked him to be quiet. And when the man didn’t, Tyson snapped and punched the man repeatedly in the face. He then reportedly walked off the plane.
After the punches, the man was left with a bloody head and received medical attention.
Not so innocent
Once the story got out, more and more witnesses came forward to set the record straight. And according to sources close to Tyson, the man was very drunk and would not stop “provoking” the boxer.
“Unfortunately, Mr Tyson had an incident on a flight with an aggressive passenger who began harassing him and threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat,” Tyson’s reps explained.
Furthermore, the San Fransisco Police Department, who was called to the scene, commented that after two “subjects that were believed to be involved in the incident” have been detained.
And after being treated for “non-life-threatening” injuries, the man “provided minimal details of the incident and refused to cooperate further with the police investigation.”
