Kim Kardashian may have been quiet over the past few days. But that doesn’t mean she approves of Balenciaga’s recent holiday campaign.
This past week, Balenciaga came under harsh scrutiny after they shared an advertisement that appeared to be promoting child abuse.
Balenciaga lands in hot water
In their advertisement, Balenciaga included two little girls to promote their new line. That included an hourglass bag and plush teddy bear bags. However, the brand received extensive criticism for including children in an advertisement that included bondage wear.
Thus far, one image that has since been deleted from Balenciaga’s Instagram page, shows a teddy bear covered in bondage wear. Which included handcuffs and chains around the teddy bear’s neck.
What enraged the public more, was the fact that the hourglass handbag included a court excerpt that cited a child pornography issue.
Kim Kardashian speaks out amid Balenciaga controversy
Kim Kardashian who has been a brand ambassador for Balenciaga for years did not share any statement at the time. But has since shared her views on the controversial campaign this past Sunday on her Instagram Stories.
“I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard, and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period.”
The mother of our continued to share that she appreciates Balenciaga removing the images and their apology for the incident. She further noted that she is confident that Balenciaga will make sure it “never [happens] again”
