When talking about movie genres, “sports” often get overlooked. And what a shame! There are so many gripping, entertaining, and inspiring hidden gems in the sports movie genre and below we have listed a few of our favourites.

While most of the film focuses on Jerry’s (Tom Cruise) sports agent business, an emotional side of the story comes in as he forms a relationship with Dorothy Boyd (Renée Zellweger) and her son, Ray.

Not only did Sylvester Stallone bring the character, Rocky, to life, but he also wrote the movie. Rocky’s journey is an inspirational story, portraying the message of believing in yourself and giving your all in order to accomplish your dreams.
Raging Bull (1980)
Raging Bull is considered one of director Martin Scorsese’s best movies and is a biographical film following Jake LaMotta at several stages in his life. The film is can be described as a “tense, dramatic, and thoroughly enjoyable character study on a complicated figure“.
