Dolly Parton is known for her over-the-top hairdos and makeup and one would think that the first thing she does when she gets home is take it all off. But the singer has revealed that she actually sleeps with her makeup on for multiple reasons.
Dolly Parton sleeps with her makeup on “in case there’s an emergency”
In one of her interviews, Dolly spoke about her morning routine and that the first thing she does is remove her makeup. She explained that she sleeps with her makeup on “just in case there’s an emergency”. This way, the country star will look great in any situation.
“I clean my face in the mornings,” says Dolly. “You never know if you’re going to wreck the bus, you never know if you’re going to be somewhere in a hotel and there’s going to be a fire. So, I leave my makeup on at night and clean my face in the morning.”
The country star also wants to look good for her husband
One would think that since Dolly and her husband, Carl Dean, have been married since 1966, there isn’t anything that the two haven’t seen from each other. But nonetheless, Dolly insists on looking good for her husband when she can, so she keeps her makeup on for as long as possible.
“I don’t like to go home and just tear down completely, because my poor husband has to look at me,” says Dolly. “And in the morning when I get up I start all over again, put on my makeup and then touch it up through the day.
The singer-songwriter also revealed that she uses mostly Maybelline products and Max Factor’s Panstik makeup, even though the latter is harder to get.
“I use a lot of Maybelline products, and I’ve used Max Factor’s Panstik makeup for all of my grown years; I have to order it from different places because I can’t find it anymore.”
Dolly Parton got her style inspirations form the town prostitute
In her book, Dream More, Dolly reveals that even though most people looked down on the town prostitute, Dolly was in awe of the woman’s beauty.
“I often tell the story of how I thought the most beautiful woman in the county was the woman most people called trash.”
The prostitute’s over-the-top outfits and nails clearly left a mark on Dolly.
“In my eyes—with her big dyed hair, her bright red nails, her feet squeezed tight into her high-heel shoes, and all her paint and perfume—she was just perfect.”
